Shop remodel update

Our shop remodeling process is continuing on smoothly, thanks to the help of our amazing community of supporters and volunteers. First the Oregon Tradeswomen came in to lend a hand building workbenches for our new space at 1714 NE Alberta. Following that, Francis Dardin of STACK Architecture stopped by to consult with us on our new floor plan. We were also lucky enough to have a team of Americorps members give 1714 a fresh coat of paint. This week, volunteers Dan Allen, Joe Gruelich and Dan Benson have been in building more fixtures for us so that all our tools can stay organized.

We’re staying open as much as possible while we complete this process. However, we will be closed to the public from Monday, February 21st until Friday, February 25th while we refinish the floor. If you’ve dropped your bike off for repair, please be sure to pick it up by the 21st!

Once all the dust has settled, we’ll have a freshly remodeled bike shop to serve our community better. The new workspace at 1714 will allow us to produce more bikes for our programs, like Create a Commuter and the Holiday Bike Drive.

Thank you so much to everyone who has assisted with the remodel. Francis Dardin of Stack Architecture, Jeff Stern of INSITU Architecture, Wade Younie of DCI Engineers, and John Milliken of JKL Construction Services have all provided us with pro-bono architecture and engineering services. Dan Allen, Dan Benson, Brian Mohr, and Carlos Maya have volunteered to build furniture and cabinets. And Oregon Tradeswomen, and Americorps have assisted with demolition and construction. Everyone’s help has been immeasurable. We simply couldn’t do it without you!
