Programs for Adults

Our programs aim to improve individual health, environmental quality, and enhance the livability of our communities by helping people gain bicycle knowledge, skills, and confidence.

Bicycle Classes

Our cBasic Bike Maintenance Classlasses are designed for adults interested in bicycling and the benefits it provides to individual health, environmental quality, and community livability. We design our classes with an understanding that people have different reasons for cycling. In a welcoming and fun environment, we will help you build your cycling knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve your personal goal: whether it is to become a bike commuter, improve your health, be more active with your family, feel confident on Portland streets, or master the fascinating mechanical systems of the bicycle. Our classes are for everyone from the casual cyclist to the year-round commuter! Our 2012 classes include:

Create a Commuter

Create a Commuter

The first program of its kind in the nation, the Create a Commuter program provides low-income adults enrolled in comprehensive employment programs with a commuter bike complete with lights, a lock, a helmet, a rack, tools and all the other accessories needed for successful year-round bike commuting to work. To receive the bike, each participant completes five hours of safe commuting and bike maintenance training at their employment agency. This groundbreaking program offers participants a flexible solution to meet their transportation needs, reducing barriers to work while promoting healthy activity.
