Volunteer Profile: Randi Orth

Name: Randi Orth

Randi and Tom, photographed by Sara CrossHow long have you been volunteering at the Community Cycling Center? How did you start?

I’ve been volunteering for over a year. I was looking for a local bike shop where I could learn more about bikes and use tools, and an employee suggested coming to volunteer night and I never looked back.

Why do you volunteer here?

I volunteer here because the benefits are threefold: learning how to wrench on bikes, working with great people, for an amazing cause.

What is your favorite Community Cycling Center program?

Having been a year-round volunteer for the Holiday Bike Drive I can truly say that this is an incredible event with the number of people involved and how many lives it affects. And some of the bikes we fix up are really hilarious and tiny.

What is your dream bike?

I frequently change my mind about the bike of my dreams, but it definitely has to be red. Maybe in a matte finish, that would look nice.

Any hobbies or passions you’d like to share?

I’ve been playing Ultimate Frisbee for years and as much as I complain about being beat-up and worn out, it has given me such great adventures and many, many friends!
