Give a little, get a lot with the Give!Guide
The Give!Guide is an incredible gift from the Willamette Week to local nonprofits and we are psyched to be included once again.
We need your help to fund our innovative earn-a-bike and bike safety programs – and the Give!Guide makes it easy and rewarding by providing gift incentives to donors.
When you give as little as $10, you will receive coupons for free and discounted goods and services all over Portland. The more you give, the more you get – donors who make gifts of $500+ receive wine, Stumptown coffee, Widmer beer, and more delivered right to their front door!
This year, we are throwing in a little incentive of our own to donors who give through the Give!Guide – a sweet spoke card designed by local illustrator and designer Britt Appleton.
Your gift will go further thanks to local businesses River City Bicycles, Swanson, Thomas & Coon, and Nossa Familia Coffee – who will match up to $6,500 of donations made through the Give!Guide.
A little history: Seven years ago, the Willamette Week began the Give!Guide to encourage people under the age of 36 to start thinking philanthropically. They chose a handful of nonprofits to feature in that first guide, published a list of descriptions of the worthy organizations, and set up a website where people could make donations to multiple organizations in one easy transaction. They covered the cost of the credit card fees to ensure that all of the donations went directly to the nonprofit. To sweeten the deal, they offered incentives to donors – TriMet tickets, haircuts, coffee, beer, wine and more.
They raised $24,000 for the nonprofits that first year – a resounding success, but one that pales in comparison to the awesome impact that they have now. Last year, they raised a million dollars. This year, the Give!Guide features 100 local nonprofits and their goal is to raise 1.3 million bucks.
