Get Lit Outreach

About the Community Cycling Center

We believe that a bicycle is a tool for empowerment and a vehicle for change. The Community Cycling Center is a 501(c) 3 that broadens access to bicycling and its benefits through our hands-on programs, volunteer projects, and neighborhood shop.

General Position Summary

Get Lit is an innovative bike safety promotion program. Through Get Lit, we perform random acts of bike safety, setting up on busy streets and installing Planet Bike front and rear lights for free on unsuspecting, and unlit, cyclists.

We are looking for a team of volunteers to help us put on these fun events around the Portland areas. Volunteers will help us educate the public about all programs of the organization; provide basic bike safety education on lights, helmet use, and laws; and distribute light sets to those individuals in need.

  • Work with Community Cycling Center staff to connect with the public on heavily trafficked bicycle routes
  • Provide basic education, materials and lights to passing cyclists
  • Receive training from Community Cycling Center staff on programs, bike light and helmet statistics and laws
