Throughout the year, we need help delivering programs, events, and other special projects. Please check this page periodically for exciting volunteer opportunities.

Community Cycling Center Outreach Team

Join our team and help spread the word about the Community Cycling Center. Local supporters invite us to events throughout the Portland Metro area and we need your help so that we can be at them all. Bike Club Assistant

We’re seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help teach safe bicycling and maintenance to low-income youth in schools in North, Northeast and Outer Southeast Portland. Get Lit Outreach

Get Lit is a bike safety promotion program. We like to think of it as a random act of safety because we install Planet Bike front and rear lights for free on unsuspecting (and unlit) cyclists. We are looking for a team of volunteers to educate the public about all programs of the organization; provide basic bike safety education (light, helmet use statistics and laws); and distribute light sets to those individuals in need. more info …

Shop Data Entry Guru

We are looking for one volunteer to come in weekly to support the shop with data entry tasks. This position will help organize and maintain shop information. more info . . .

Bike Recycling Volunteer

The Recycling Volunteers will work with our Used Inventory Coordinator to take apart bikes and wheels at our shop. Volunteers will use CCC tools and supplies to remove bike parts and accessories that we can use and then will properly dispose of the rest. This is an entry-level position, so we will teach you about our recycling process, how to use the tools and what to harvest. more info …

Adult Class Instructor Support

Are you interested in sharing your bike mechanic and commuting skills with Portland adults eager to learn? We are looking for skilled volunteers who can support our different adult classes throughout the year. These classes include Urban Cycling, Women’s Urban Cycling, Family Cycling and the three levels of our Bike Maintenance classes. more info …

REI Earth Day Bike Collection Staff

On Saturday, April 26th, four REI stores will host bike collection events to benefit the Community Cycling Center. We will be accepting bikes, talking to supporters and demonstrating how we refurbish bikes to benefit our bicycle safety education programs. We need outreach volunteers, mechanics and people with trucks and trailers to help transport the 200+ bikes we expect to collect. more info …

Sunset Bike Fair Mechanics

The Third Annual Sunset Community Bike Fair is a terrific event that provides helmets, safety education and free bike repairs for children. The Community Cycling Center is leading the mechanic station, as well as holding a bike collection to benefit our shop and programs. Adult Earn-a-Bike Workshop Support

This fall, we’re bringing this great program to the community. We’re holding events at great organizations such as Central City Concern, Transitional Projects, Cascadia Behavioral Health Services, Volunteers of America, and El Programa Hispano. We need a volunteer at each of our events to provide classroom support to paid instructors during adult earn-a-bike workshops. more info …

Sunday Parkways Volunteering

Portland will hold a Sunday Parkways event on Sunday, June 22, 2008. The event will follow the international Toward Carfree Cities conference which Portland will host June 16 – 20. The route will close six miles of local streets in north Portland from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., linking parks and great places to walk and ride bicycles. The Community Cycling Center is partnering with the city and will organize bike safety in a park. To make this event possible, we need hundreds of volunteers to monitor road closures and staff park activities. more info …

Cycle Oregon Detailing Staff

Come on the volunteer adventure of a lifetime. The CCC provides the detailing service during Cycle Oregon and raises over $15,000 for the Holiday Bike Drive. We are recruiting a team of enthusiastic and team-oriented volunteers to travel with us for 7 days, cleaning bikes, riding a couple days and enjoying the whole Cycle O experience. more info …
