Volunteer Groups
The Community Cycling Center offers fun and rewarding volunteer opportunities for corporations, businesses, churches, schools and social groups. We offer hands-on activities that require no skills, but will greatly benefit the CCC and the kids and adults we serve through our programs. At the start of every group, we introduce volunteers to the CCC and provide them with a thorough training of the day’s tasks.
Volunteer group projects include:
- Cleaning donated kids bikes for the Holiday Bike Drive.
- Taking apart bikes we cannot use for our programs, harvesting usable parts and responsibly recycling the rest.
- Transporting and organizing bikes, parts and supplies.
- Staffing special events to benefit the CCC, including the Holiday Bike Drive and the Hottest Day of the Year Ride.
What Past Volunteers Had to Say
When asked “What aspects of your volunteer experience did you find particularly positive or effective?”, this is what past volunteers have said:
The introduction instilled a sense of “community,” in that we were helping the CCC to make a difference - Tektronix volunteer
I enjoyed the people I volunteered with and I had fun learning a thing or two about taking tires off - Hands on Greater Portland volunteer
The overall organization of the activity was the best that I have ever been involved in - Portland Community College volunteer
This was the most fun volunteer experience I have ever had. Thanks! - Nike volunteer
Registering Your Group
Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff will set up a well-planned day that offers a rewarding, bonding experience for your group. We host groups as small as 10 people and as large as 50. Daytime and evening shifts are available on both weekdays and weekends. 3 or 4-hour shifts are recommended, but we host longer events as well. NO SKILLS REQUIRED.
If you have volunteers under 18, please download our Volunteer Program Waiver. Every minor must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver before they can volunteer.
To register your group, please contact Volunteer and Events Manager Neal Armstrong at Neal@CommunityCyclingCenter.org or 503.546.8864. Due to the many groups and activities of our organization, please contact us at least a month or two before your desired volunteer date.
