Bike Safety Club Featured in The Oregonian
Last Friday, The Oregonian ran an article featuring the Community Cycling Center’s Bike Safety Club at Lent Elementary. “Where are all the kids on bikes?” by Steven Woodward takes a look at the diminishing numbers of children who ride their bikes to school.
According to a 2001 National Household Travel Survey, less than 15% of students walk to or from school while only 1% biked. Compare this to the 48% who walked or biked to school in 1969, and it is increasingly clear how important programs like Bike Safety Club have become.
