Classes
Whether you are looking for tips on how to fix a flat tire or want to overhaul your headset, our classes are for you. Taught by professional bicycle mechanics, our classes will put you to work on your own bike so you get real, hands-on experience and leave feeling confident with your new skills. Our classes are for students 18 and over.
Participant Discount
All class participants receive a 10% discount on tools, parts, and accessories for the duration of the course! This discount does not apply towards a used bicycle purchase.

If you are interested in a class that is full, click the “register” button on the Event Summary page. This will allow you to input your contact information, and you will be added to the class wait list. If a space becomes available, we will contact you.
Scholarships
For 2010 we have allocated five full class scholarships to our Partner Agencies with the Understanding Barriers project, creating stronger connections within our local communities.
Basic Bicycle Maintenance Class
Ages: 18 and over
Class size: 12 maximum
Cost: $150 (covers all five classes / ten total hours of instruction!)
Are you tired of walking your bike home when you get a flat tire? Do you want to know how to trouble shoot and fix basic problems to keep your bicycle running well? In our hands-on, five-week, Basic Bicycle Maintenance Class, you will learn all the essentials to perform regular monthly maintenance on your bicycle.
With the guidance of our expert mechanics, you will get your hands dirty learning all the ins and outs of flat tire repair, cleaning your bike from top to bottom and front to back, lubrication of all the necessary parts, shifting and gear adjustments, brake adjustments and general troubleshooting.
Don’t know your derailer from your bottom bracket? No worries, no experience is necessary! Intimidated by all the cables, screws, chain rings and moving parts? Have no fear, our expert and approachable instructors creating a welcoming environment and the series begins with identifying the parts of a bicycle. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll be wrenching like a pro.

Basic Bicycle Maintenance Class For Women
Ages:18 and over
Class size: 12 maximum
Cost: $150 (covers all five classes / ten total hours of instruction!)
This is our Basic Bike Maintenance class offered exclusively for women! Taught by female mechanics, this class is a great place to learn in the company of other women. We will cover all of the basic maintenance topics while addressing specific concerns for the female rider.
In our hands-on, five-week, Women’s Basic Bike Maintenance Class, you will learn all the essentials to perform regular maintenance on your bicycle. With the guidance of our expert female mechanics, you will get your hands dirty learning all the ins and outs of flat tire repair, cleaning your bike from top to bottom and front to back, lubrication of all the necessary parts, shifting and gear adjustments, brake adjustments and general troubleshooting. No experience necessary.
By the end of the class you will have the confidence and skills to keep your ride running well. With a 6:1 student to instructor ratio, you will receive individualized attention and learn time and money saving tips.

Intermediate Bicycle Maintenance Class
Ages:18 and over
Class size:10 maximum
Cost: $150 (covers all five classes / ten total hours of instruction!)
How’s your shifting? How about that wobbly wheel? Our Intermediate Bike Maintenance Class will give you the essential skills to keep your bike shifting and riding smoothly.
Use your own bicycle to learn how to complete in-depth shifting and gear cluster maintenance and repairs including:
- chain replacement
- gear cluster removal
- front and rear derailleur adjustments
- basic wheel truing
- complete brake adjustments
You will have tons of fun learning how to cut cables and replace them, adjust the limit screws on your derailers, and adjust your gears when your chain is rubbing. By the end of the class you’ll have gained the confidence and skills to make routine maintenance repairs on your bike to keep it running well year-round!
This class is taught by expert mechanics years of experience. Our student:instructor ratio is 6:1, ensuring that everyone receives as much one-on-one guidance as they need.

Advanced Bicycle Maintenance Class
Ages:18 and over
Class size: 10 maximum
Cost: $150 (covers all five classes / ten total hours of instruction!)
Have you ever wanted to take your headset apart to clean the bearings but lack the specialized knowledge? In the Advanced Bicycle Maintenance Class you will learn how to overhaul your hubs, bottom bracket, and headset as well as gain experience with advanced wheel truing.
This class is perfect for people with intermediate mechanical skills who want to learn more about bearing systems. We will introduce you to the specialized tools and techniques necessary to perform advanced wheel truing and bearing system maintenance. This hands-on class will have you pulling bearings out of all kinds of parts on your bike, and learning how to check if they are worn out, replace and repack them.
This class is taught by one of our professional mechanics who has more than six years experience. The student:instructor ratio is only 4:1 in this class, ensuring lots of supportive guidance. Prior completion of the Intermediate Bike Maintenance class is strongly recommended.

Change and Cancellation Policy
We are happy to accommodate schedule changes, space permitting. A $25 processing fee will be assessed for any schedule changes made with 15 days days prior to the original start date of the class. Registration changes are limited to one change per registrant and must be made within the 2010 Bike Maintenance Class Schedule.
All cancellations will be assessed a $25 processing fee if made 15 days prior to class start date. We will not issue any refunds for cancellations made within 15 days of the first day of class.
Refunds and processing fees will be processed via credit card only.
