Hottest Day of the Year RideHundreds of cyclists will vie for the world record of the largest water fight ever recorded, but first, they’ve got some riding to do. The Hottest Day of the Year Ride on August 5th is a family-friendly 15-mile course around Portland with water stops, shade, snacks and support along the way. This ride, which starts and ends at the Lucky Labrador on NW Quimby, is a benefit for the Community Cycling Center.

The relatively flat course makes this ride perfect for riders of all skill levels. Experienced riders who want more of a challenge can sign up for an extended 40-mile loop. At the finish line, riders will be rewarded with a cool make-your-own sundae bar, complete with strawberries, nuts, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, cherries, caramel and all the goodies necessary to make a huge sundae.

Organizers have planned a gigantic good-natured water fight - in an attempt to make the world record. Water will be splashing in all directions as riders young and old cool off from a long, hot ride. Free squirt guns are provided and outside water toys are prohibited.
